Facial rejuvenation basically is helping the skin and the facial area becoming more rejuvenated and useful with minimal surgical intervention. The goal here is to give the patient the best natural result with the minimal surgical procedure and cutting and scarring. What are included in this subcategory are one fillers, fillers are things that we know we inject underneath the skin, under the lines to sort of, you know, relax these lines and flatten the lines and wrinkles. Things like collagen and other derivatives of collagen, then Restylane which is a new product, its a relatively new product now, end of 2004 beginning of 2005, and then Radiance and then there are some other products that are actually more permanent like Advanta implants and these Advanta implants are more sort of soother surgical and we will talk about them. In addition to these, we have facial rejuvenation techniques that are either peeling or laser or Dermabrasion. There are lasers of all kinds and each of the lasers performs a different procedure for a different problem or issue. The nurse or the doctor who will be coming after this tape is finished will be able to address those particulars with you depending on what it is that you are here for and you are interested in. The next is peeling, there are different types of peels, there are different depths of peels, different products that are used in order to use produce peeling. The goal of peeling is basically to help remove old or dead layers of skin and spark rejuvenation process, a sort of regeneration and recreation of new cells of skin, to give the skin more of a youthful appearance and a more youthful outer layer. Beside that then it would be micro-dermabrasion or full-dermabrasion. Micro-dermabrasion as you know is a small crystal sort of particles flowing very close to the outer layer of the skin and with it, it takes away the superficial cell layer of the skin and then in the process over the next few days, new skin cells will be regenerated and you get more of a glowing natural look, very very beautiful outcome. Basically, this is something that you want to take advantage of. Basically, every so often almost everybody could benefit from this type of a mild rejuvenation cosmetic technology. The next is deeper dermabrasion and it really is useful for deeper lines and acne scars and deeper blemishes of the skin that would otherwise not benefit from any other procedure. Again, make sure that you discuss those issues with the surgeon or the nurse that will be coming to talk with you.
Our goal at the New Me Institute is to give you the most natural outcome, least amount of complication rate. The fastest healing process and get you back on the track really rapidly without really giving you any excessive risk and complication rate. The only thing that I would like to at this point add is the specifics of Botox and Restylane, Radiance and other fillers. As you know Botox is basically a product that is botulinum toxin A and it does paralyze the muscles of the face wherever it is injected for a temporary period and depending on the individual it could range from two to three months, all the way up to six or eight months. Generally about three to four months is the average. In the process of paralyzing the muscles as you know the facial cause the little lines and contractions of them would cause these little wrinkles around the eye called crow's feet, corrugator muscle, you know the frown lines and then the forehead lines. When we inject the Botox, usually it is very painless when we do that, you know numbing creams and so on are applied to the skin. When we apply these injections, it really minimizes these lines for several months and gives more of a rejuvenated look with less lines to worry about. Then we talked about the deeper lines, you know, sometimes these lines, you know that are formed by the contraction of the muscles over the years become so deep that Botox alone cannot address them, so at this time point, things like filters like collagen, Restylane, Radiance are the ones that we can use. Collagen as you know is basically a bovine product. There are variations of it now that are made from human body etc. They are temporarily generally they get injected right underneath the deep lines and wrinkles. They will smooth and flatten the lines for several months at a time, it is up to four to six months depending on the patient. They are excellent for temporary of these lines. Then we have the Radiance, the Radiance is more of a long-term solution. It is a product that basically last three to five years according to the company that makes these products and depends on the area that we inject it. Make sure that you talk to the surgeon, make sure that the area that you are concerned about would be a particular area that the Radiance can help. In my practice, I have noticed that it is really excellent is in the nasolabial folds and it goes right deep underneath the skin fold and it does smooth that line for three to five years, it is really excellent for that period of time. Smooth product, also very nice sort of in between collagen and collagen-type of products and Radiance is Restylane. This is sort of a newer product. It will last up to six to nine months. It is pretty smooth. It really gives you a very nice contour. It is great for lip augmentation. It is great for nasolabial lines or any facial lines. I really love this product, it has been around for about six to nine months now and I am starting to really get excited about it, because it is almost as great as any other product that we have ever seen introduced for filler and none of these products are really perfect solutions. I think the perfect solution would be something that would be permanent and as smooth as Restylane, but yet we have not seen one and I think the closest that we have ever come to so far is Restylane itself. Make sure you talk to the nurse or the doctor that would be following the tape and they will be discussing specifics with you as to which one of these particular procedures will fit your needs. One of the other things that we need to at this section talk about is facial implants and we will go ahead and separate this section from the previous section because facial implants per se are soother surgical or surgical and they are not really a quick office visit. Make sure you do ask about these facial implants because they could be the ideal procedures for you and they really have minimal downtime.
